HISTORY

James was originally born to a wealthy shipbuilder in Dover, England. Despite being pampered in his youth, he had a knack for adventure and would often explore the ins and out of the port.

When he was nine years old his village was attacked by pirates. The flourishing port had attracted the attention of Blackbeard, and the pirates pillaged the coastal town until there was nearly nothing left. James was among the prisoners taken aboard the ship. His parents were killed trying to escape.

He was thrown in the ship's brig and left there with the other prisoners. After countless days he finally became desperate enough to gather up courage to retaliate. He managed to manipulate a pirate into opening the brig, and attacked him with his own sword. It was the first time James killed.

The fact that a child killed one of his men amused Blackbeard. He gave James the rare oppurtunity to decide his fate; walk the plank or become apart of Blackbeard's crew. With his parents dead, and no place else to go, he joined Blackbeard's crew and became a pirate.

James spent the next slew of years as a cabin boy. His charisma and cunning nature spared him from being the crew's punching bag. He was bright enough to make friends with the right crewmembers so he could have protection from those who held the pirate's death over his head. They taught him how to swordfight, shoot, and operate different aspects of the ship. James took a favoring to his new lifestyle, because it tapped into the adventure hungry aspect of him. Blackbeard noticed this passion, and took James under his wing.

It was under Blackbeard's influence that James became comfortable with death. Not only was his own fears of death diminished by the pirate captain, he became desensitized to killing others. It was Blackbeard's ruthless nature that normalized murder, and he ended up taking more lives as a result.

Blackbeard ended up favoring James so much that he appointed him to be his bo'sun by the time he was sixteen.

The next nine years was spent as Blackbeard's right hand man. He followed every order the Captain made, no matter how gruesome and bloodthirsty. However James' growing favoritism from the crew threatened Blackbeard. He planned to kill James, and take back his crew's attention, but he had already anticipated the Captain's intentions. A civil war broke out aboard the ship. After a vigorous swordfight against Blackbeard himself, he managed to wear the older man down. He disarmed the Captain of his sword, and claimed it as his own. Reciprocating the rare act of mercy, that was given to him sixteen years ago, James marooned Blackbeard on a deserted island instead of shoving a sword through his chest. He killed all pirates who fought against him, and was left with the ship, crew, and the title of Captain.

James wasted no time in developing his own reputation. He killed pirates and civilians alike, becoming the only pirate that Long John Silver himself feared. For James was not only ruthless, but he was manipulative. His thirst for adventure fueled his determination to deliver to his crew treasure and new lands. It was that thirst that brought them to Neverland.

Neverland ended up being disappointing to James. There was no treasure, and it was an island run by savages. When he tried to set sail he found that he was unable to leave. Worst than that, he found himself irritated by the cluster of children that seemed hellbent on terrorizing his ship.

It wasn't until Peter Pan, the most irritating of them all, cut his hand off in the mist of a duel that James accepted Neverland as home. Not only did he become determined to extract revenge on the boy, but he developed a hunger to tame the island as well. With his left hand gone he replaced it with an iron hook, dubbing himself Captain Hook.

Time was lost in Neverland. He spent countless years trying to capture Peter and his Lost Boys.
